My fiat punto keeps chugging when im driving whats wrong with it?

hey, my fiat punto was chugging today when i was driving it, i was flooring it and it was barely moving, then it would shoot off and slow down again, i taught it was going to break down, the oil is ok because i only pt it in last week! any ideas of the problem guys?
