What should I call my short story/ book?

I am writing short story/ book about a girl named Kathy and she is living her life slowly and painfully. Her husband was killed in a gang fight. And her father died when she was five right in front of her. Through the book she is telling her life how she lived through the pain of her father's death, and life away from her family
