Are we in a state of emergency?

Look around this country folks, things ain't good. We spend so much time bickering as democrats and republicans that we are missing the big picture. We are close to financial collapse and no I don't think the present stimulus package will help, however we do need to to stimulate the economy but it has to be done at the gr roots level by lowering interest rates on home purchases and automobile purchases, extending unemployment benefits to people whose benefits are depleted, starting a job corps to hire people to clean up our cities and national parks. The money has to be put into the hands of the ones who need it and will spend it and everything will move up the food chain without a lot of government intervention. This old business of politicians looking out for their primary contributors needs to stop and let us the regular folks run the show. We can't just dump money to help this situation but we can work our way out of it.
